BIOGRAPHY | NANECI YURDAGÜL

Naneci Yurdagül (born in Frankfurt am Main) is a German sculptor and performance artist. His works are known for exposing societal wounds and tangibly challenging the audience. He marks his 25th anniversary as an artist with his solo performance CHALLENGER.

After completing his secondary education, he initially studied Theater, Film, and Media Studies in Frankfurt am Main and Arts & Performance at the Université de Vincennes–Saint Denis in Paris. During his studies, Yurdagül wrote, acted, and directed at various German theaters, collaborating with figures such as René Pollesch, Christof Nel, and Peter Greenaway. At the Volksbühne am Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz in Berlin, Yurdagül was part of the *Kanak–Attak* collective and directed the productions *OpelPitbulAutoput* (2001) and *konkret konkrass* (2002). In this context, Yurdagül presented his first major public art installation: a 15-meter-long text piece on the roof of the Volksbühne reading *DEUTSCH MICH NICHT VOLL*.

In 2005, he began studying Fine Arts and Sculpture at the Städelschule (State Academy of Fine Arts) in Frankfurt am Main, graduating as a Meisterschüler in 2011. Since then, his works and performances have been featured in numerous solo and group exhibitions at venues including the Bundeskunsthalle (Bonn), Staatliche Kunsthalle (Baden-Baden), Museum für Moderne Kunst and Portikus (Frankfurt am Main), Wilhelm-Hack-Museum (Ludwigshafen), Tel Aviv Museum of Art, Schauspielhaus Frankfurt, Kunstforeningen GL Strand (Copenhagen), the 14th Istanbul Biennial, Kunstmuseum Wolfsburg, the Jewish Museum Rendsburg, and the Germanisches Nationalmuseum (Nuremberg). Yurdagül lives and works in Frankfurt am Main and Zurich.
